The Bhagavad-Gītā, or Song of God, offers timeless wisdom on self-realization and the ultimate goal of life: to reconnect with the Divine and return to our eternal nature. Composed over 5,000 years ago, it continues to guide modern seekers, especially those on the yogic path.
Yoga, from the Sanskrit yuj (“to unite”), is more than a physical practice, it’s a holistic journey of inner transformation. The Gītā presents different paths: karma-yoga (selfless action), jñāna-yoga (wisdom), and bhakti-yoga (devotion), all leading toward union with the Divine.
For yoga practitioners, the Gītā adds spiritual depth, showing how physical discipline can become a doorway to self-realization. Rather than viewing asana in isolation, it becomes part of a broader path toward wholeness.
Aligned with the eight limbs of ashtanga yoga, the Gītā emphasizes ethical living, breath control, concentration, and meditation, guiding practitioners beyond the ego and toward their higher purpose.
In essence, the Gītā invites us to make yoga not just a practice of the body, but a profound transformation of the soul.
This course will be guided by Lavina Hinduja (initiated in to the Vaishnava parampara and given the spiritual name Hemangi Devi Dasi)
She’s been teaching Bhagavad Gita for over 5 years. She’s the disciple of HG BB Govinda Swami (74 year old American practicing Bhakti yoga and living in Vrindavan for over 50 years) and grand disciple of Srila Prabhupada - the founder of the ISKCON movement.. you can track back his lineage to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu who appeared 500 years ago in India.
